Terms of Service

Aequo is an automated screening tool. You select a medical bill, and optionally an Explanation of Benefits (EOB), locally in your own browser, and Aequo checks it for potential duplicate or repeated charge lines — entirely on your device. Your document is not uploaded, transmitted, or stored, and Aequo does not perform human review of it. Aequo does not confirm that a billing error occurred: it surfaces potential repeated-charge candidates only, on documents it can reliably read. A document Aequo cannot reliably read, or a document with no repeated-charge candidate, does not mean the bill is correct or free of other issues. Broader checks (such as billing-code review, insurance-processing review, or a comprehensive bill audit) are not part of the Service today.

The Service is provided for informational purposes only. It is not medical, legal, financial, or insurance advice, and does not create any professional relationship between you and Aequo. Aequo does not act on your behalf, contact any other party for you, or represent you in any dispute. We do not guarantee that any error will be found, that any bill will be reduced, or that any dispute with a provider or insurer will succeed. You should consult a qualified professional — such as a patient billing advocate, attorney, or your insurer — before making financial or legal decisions related to a medical bill.

To use the Service, you agree that:

• You are at least 18 years old.
• You own the documents you select, or have the right to view and use them (for example, as the patient, a parent/guardian, or an authorized representative).
• The information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
• You will not use the Service in connection with anything unlawful, fraudulent, or that infringes another person's rights.

The Aequo website, including its design, text, and branding, is owned by Aequo and may not be copied or used without our permission. You retain ownership of any documents you select.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aequo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including any financial outcome related to a medical bill.

We may suspend or discontinue the Service, or your access to it, at any time, including if we believe these Terms have been violated.

We may update these Terms as the product changes — including when future features such as on-device analysis are introduced. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Aequo is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
